He previously admitted that he would focus to gain voters in West Java, DKI Jakarta and Banten when starting to campaign. He said, the plan to gain voters in these three regions would be carried out using various groups within the communities.

Ma'ruf said, his team would also maximize the movements in the three regions. He was optimistic that this method would be able to win the voters who previously voted for the opposition of presidential candidate.

"Well, on the last pressential election, Jokowi lost (in West Java and Banten). Now he must win, not to lose," he said.

Ma'ruf was known to continued to get support from a number of administrators in the Nadhlatul Ulama regions. He previously received support from the region management of the Nadhlatul Ulama (PWNU) in West Java. They claimed that they would help Jokowi- Ma'ruf win in West Java.

He also received the support of the branch management of Nadhlatul Ulama (PCNU) and the clerics in Tangerang. They declared support for the Jokowi-Ma'ruf and were willing to help both of them to be leaders of the country.

Seeing the declaration of support given, Ma'ruf asserted that NU's voice was solid in supporting presidential candidate number 01. So far, the voice of NU in East Java, West Java, Banten, DKI Jakarta, Lampung, Jambi, Riau have been solid in supporting number 1 candidates. He said, then he would visit several other regions to gather NU votes.

"There are only a few regions which haven't given their support, but overall it's solid," he said.

The team campaign (TKN KIK) previously said that it would maximize the role of volunteers in winning votes in West Java, Banten and DKI Jakarta. TKN asked volunteers to move systematically, massively and militantly to socialize Jokowi's achievements and Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin's vision and mission in the next election. TKN KIK asked volunteers to perform door-to-door campaign.

On the last presidential election, Jokowi was defeated in West Java and Banten against Prabowo-Hatta Rajasa pair. in West Java, Jokowi lost 40.22 percent of the vote compared to Prabowo (59.78 percent). In Banten province, Jokowi also lost by only collecting votes of 42.90 percent while Prabowo got 57.10 percent. He only won in DKI Jakarta with a vote of 53.08 percent compared to Prabowo (46.92 percent).

Whereas in West Java, the pair carried by Gerindra-PKS coalition was in second place against a coalition of Jokowi supporters who carried Ridwan Kamil.
