REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State-owned social insurance company PT Jasa Raharja has provided Rp5.058 billion in compensation to the heirs of the victims of the crashed Lion Air flight JT 610. Its president director Budi Rahardjo stated that at the Raden Said Sukanto Police Hospital in East Jakarta on Friday.
"As of Thursday (Nov 22), Jasa Raharja has distributed some Rp5 billion to the heirs of the victims in accordance with the law and government regulation," he noted.
The compensation was distributed to at least 103 heirs, with each receiving Rp50 million, Budi remarked. He said Jasa Raharja had selected the names of all heirs deserving insurance coverage, including those of 64 passengers, who have yet to be identified.
Only the heir of Italian passenger identified as Andrea Manfredi was not available, he stated. Jasa Raharja will continue to contact the Italian Embassy in Jakarta.
"We continue to communicate with them to get the compensation channeled to the heir of the Italian passenger," he noted.
Identification of the victims of the crashed Lion Air JT 610 flight was officially stopped on Friday (Nov 23). Since the identification was started on Oct 29, the DVI team had identified 125 bodies of the victims of the crashed Lion Air JT 610 flight.
The Boeing 737 Max plane, which carried 189 people, crashed in the Tanjung Pakis waters in Karawang District, West Java, on Oct 29 after it lost contact with airport authorities.
