REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUSA DUA -- Jack Ma, the founder and executive chairman of multinational technology conglomerate, Alibaba, has promised Indonesia assistance for human resources development. He would like to focus in digital economy, including in payment system.
The Indonesian government, Indonesian private sector and Jack Ma are working out a plan for human resource development in digital economy, Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution said after a meeting with the Chinese business magnate on Saturday on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the International Monetary Funds and the World Bank here.
The government of Indonesia wanted to exchange experience on digitalization in fund distribution or social aid to ensure that the aid goes to the right persons or community.
"We need very much human resource development for that purpose. Alibaba is also preparing proposal," Darmin said.
Capital and human resource capacity is the key in facing the era of digital economy, he said, adding, Indonesia also is developing Industry 4.0, which is based on development of technology. Therefore, Indonesia has to be ready with effective human resources in digital economy.
In addition to developing human resources, Indonesia through cooperation with Jack Ma will also take part in the event of Shopping Festival, the largest in China - Double Eleven - on 11 November 2018.
The government is making ready a number of products to be offered for sales at the Double Eleven, Darmin said.
Jack Ma said in the second meeting with the Executive Committee from Indonesia, he gave stress on assistance in human resource development.
He said digital economy is growing fast in Indonesia, such as financial technology (Fintech) service, e-commerce, therefore, payment system has to be backed up with high capacity of human resources.
"I think the future of Indonesia would depend very much on education, training and how we prepare Indonesia's younger generation not to miss the opportunity in digital economy," he said.
