REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo took the time to visit the arena for Taekwondo match, part of the 2018 Asian Games, in the Jakarta Convention Center in Senayan, Jakarta on Sunday. The President was accompanied by Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi, as well as Chief de Mission of the Indonesian contingent Police Commissioner General Syafruddin and arrived at the arena around 2 pm local time.

As the President arrived, it was time for intermission, which followed the last 16 and quarter-finals. He also took the time to check the location where athletes carry out warm-ups before entering the competition.

Taekwondo branch left the semifinal and final stages of the Poomsae category after the break which starts around 3 p.m. eastern-Indonesia time. In the semifinal round, Indonesia ensured a place for individual women's numbers in the name of Defia Rosmaniar.

While in individual men's numbers, male and female teams, Indonesia failed to pass its representative. On the first day of the taekwondo branch, there are four gold medals that are being contested.

Earlier, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani came to Hall B3 Jiexpo Kemayoran Sunday morning to see wushu events of Asian Games 2018. She arrived at around 9:45 a.m. and sat on a VIP bench while a women's Taijiquan event just started. She looked focusing on every movement made by athletes.

Indonesia has a big opportunity to contribute minimally three gold medals from the event. Deputy chairman of the Indonesia Wushu Association, Bambang Suprianto, said the opportunity was expected to emerge from Lindswell Kwok, Achmad Hulaeli, Edgard Marvelo and Bobby Valentinus.
