REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo held a meeting with secretary generals of political parties joining the government's coalition on Tuesday evening. However, he did not explain the agenda of the meeting in the invitation.

"Nothing serious will be discussed, similar to the recent meeting with the political parties' chairmen, where no serious matters were discussed," Minister/State Secretary Pratikno stated here, Tuesday.

At the meeting, they discussed matters that needed attention, he noted.

"Last time, there was a meeting with chairmen of the political parties. Next, there will be a meeting of the secretary generals. There is nothing special about it," he remarked.

Speaking in connection with a possible vice presidential candidate, he appealed to the press to wait until the registration period set by the General Election Commission on August 4-10, 2018.

Earlier, Secretary General of the Indonesian Solidarity Party Raja Juli Antoni believed the meeting was intended to strengthen the coalition parties' support for President Joko Widodo's reelection bid in the 2019 elections.

"The invitation makes no mention of the agenda of the meeting. However, I think the main agenda will be silaturahim (get-together) in addition to strengthening the coalition parties' support for Mr. Jokowi," he told the reporters on Tuesday.
