REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (Inasgoc) claimed that the ticket price for the sporting event will be cheaper than that for other international competitions. Tickets for Asian Games 2018 opening and closing ceremonies also will be more affordable.

Inasgoc's Chairman Erick Thohir said the price was only one-third of the international price. This ticket price was set based on a research of a professional institution, Kantas TNS.

"The ticket price was set after taking into account the public's purchasing power. All has been studied," Erick stated here on Friday.

Erick has reported the progress on preparations for the Asian Games to Vice President Jusuf Kalla at the vice presidential office. He elaborated that based on a study of global market research firm Kantas TNS, the ticket price for international sport competitions ranged between Rp200 thousand and Rp1.6 million.

However, the government has set the ticket price for the Asian Games events in the range of Rp50 thousand to Rp600 thousand. The price ranged between Rp750 thousand and Rp5 million for the opening ceremony, and between Rp450 thousand and Rp2 million for the closing ceremony, Erick remarked.

Ticket price for the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea was set at between Rp1.8 million and Rp8 million, he added.

"We are hoping for public support. If we can spend Rp25 million for a Celine Dion concert, or Rp1.6 million, to some millions for We The Fest, why do we not support this event hosted by Indonesia?" Erick emphasized.
