REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- House Speaker Bambang Soesatyo urged state-owned flag carrier PT Garuda Indonesia to resolve its internal problem of delays in flights that reduce the quality of its service to consumers. He reiterated that PT Garuda Indonesia is the country's pride.

"If it always delays its flights, it will affect the quality of its schedules," Soesatyo noted here on Monday.

Soesatyo, popularly called Bamsoet, urged the management of the airlines to overcome its internal problem professionally, so that it would not affect its services to the people.

The management of PT Garuda Indonesia, in conducting efficient budgeting, should not reduce the quality of its services, the rights of related parties, and the safety aspects of consumers, he emphasized. Garuda Indonesia's management is also required to conduct a thorough evaluation of the operational flight schedules and the assignment of crew at the government-owned airline.

"These measures are aimed at improving service facilities and reducing delays," he added.

Bamsoet, who is a Golkar Party politician, has also called on the Ministry of Transportation along with PT Angkasa Pura I and PT Angkasa Pura II, as airport operators across Indonesia, to conduct a comprehensive review of the urgency of development and expansion of airports, such as runways, parking aprons, and terminals for passengers.
