REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- General Chairman of Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto continued to build political communication ahead of presidential election 2019. After meeting the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Puan Maharani in secrecy on Tuesday (July 17) afternoon, Prabowo was known to have paid a visit to the residence of General Chairman of National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan on Tuesday night.
Prabowo explained those meetings were part of preparation to welcome registration of the presidential election on August 4 to 10, 2018.
"Lobbying and coordination, periodically every week. Communicating the update once or twice," Prabowo said at People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) chairman's official residence at Widya Candra complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Prabowo expected the meeting could further strengthen communication between Gerindra Party and PAN. Prabowo also would continue to intensify the meeting with other parties.
He was scheduled to meet the General Chairman of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) on Wednesday (July 18). "We communicate with all parties," he said.
On the other hand, Prabowo was reluctant to reveal the discussion he had earlier with Puan. He only said that the meeting has been scheduled from a long time ago.
Prabowo called it a friendship meeting. He expected to have another opportunity to meet with Puan.
Meanwhile, Zulkifli said the meeting with Prabowo was in the framework of exploratory process. The two party was still trying to match each other. "We do not have the detail yet," he said.
Zulkifli aslo has heard Prabowo's plan to meet with SBY. According to him, PAN responded it positively.
"Building communication with all parties is good," he remarked.
