Grenade, hundreds of bullets found in West Jakarta river

The bullets were rusty and allegedly have been stored in the river for years.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Grenade and at least 260 bullets were found in Sekretaris river in Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta. Based on the report, the grenade and bullets allegedly have been there for years.

Kebon Jeruk District Police were still investigating the findings. The police tried to find the owner of the ammunition.

“The bullets were rusty and we guess it has been stored for years in Kebon Jeruk river,” said Kebon Jeruk District Police chief Marbun on Tuesday (July 3).

The ammunition has been taken from the bottom of river. It was directly handed over to West Jakarta Police. Further investigation will be conducted to identify the grenade and bullets.

Earlier, Activity Unit of Water Agency Kebon Jeruk District found a grenade and hundreds of bullets when cleaning the river, located at Mabad Complex. The bullets were wrapped in black plastic bag.
