Police arrest international drug dealer in North Sumatra

Police seized 28.18 kilograms of methamphetamine and 300 ecstasy pills as evidences.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The North Sumatra Police has arrested an international drug dealer operating in Malaysia-Aceh-Medan area. Police seized 28.18 kilograms of methamphetamine and 300 ecstasy pills as evidences.

The Chief of North Sumatra Police, Inspector General Paulus Waterpau, said that the drug dealer was exposed when his institution received information on two persons carrying narcotics passing through the Sumatra highway in Medan to Besitang Sub-district of Banda Aceh and Langkat District in North Sumatra.

According to Waterpau, the Drugs Investigation Directorate of North Sumatra Police checked the scenes based on the recent information. "At 21.00 p.m., police officers saw a metallic blue minibus passing the Sumatra Highway to Besitang and Langkat District to a fuel station," Waterpau said here on Friday (May 25).

The officers investigated the car and arrested a man, namely Tarmizi. However, the driver of the car, namely Anuwar, escaped the apprehension.

Police found a red bag containing 28.18 kilograms of methamphetamine inside the car. "They had planned to sell the meth in Medan City," Waterpau noted.

The North Sumatra Police continued to expand the investigation to arrest the perpetrator.
