REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Committe "For You Indonesia" Dave Santosa denied the cause of death of two children during the event held on Saturday (April 29) was because of jostling when queuing to get free sembako (basic needs) parcels. Evaluation result of the event concluded that there was no report of stampedes or commotion during the event.

"No report about it, let alone trampled to death," Dave said when contacted on Monday (May 1).

Dave insisted the news was a slander. "From what I heard, the kids (who died) were already sick. They might be suffering from the heat," he said.

According to him, the two boys, known with their initials MJ (12 yo) and R (10 yo), did not died during the event. There was no report from medical team, he said.

"So, I assure, they did not died because of queuing. Moreover, our medical team were abundant and we surely could immediately anticipate it," he remarked.

Therefore, Dave left the case to be investigated by the police. He claimed to have met with families of the dead victims. "We wil be responsible and have a good will to contact the families while waiting for the investigation," he said.

Meanwhile, head of neigborhood association (RW) 11 West Pademangan, North Jakarta, Andi Pane, stated MJ was a healthy and lively figure. He went to school as any other children.

Andi denied the police's statement claiming MJ died not because of jostling when queuing for free sembako. He heard from MJ's friends that the victim had a coupon and queuing with the others.

MJ was stucked in the crowd and had difficulity in breathing. He almost fainted, Andi said.

Satpol PP officers then took him to an open space, but he did not wake up. The victim then be brought to Tarakan Hospital and died there.

"I wrote the news in my personal social media account and Mr Deputy Governor read it," he said in MJ's house on Tuesday.

According to Andi, MJ's parent were unaware that their son had the coupon. They did not realize MJ went to Monas to trade the coupon with free sembako.

Andi said the distribution of coupon in the area was done without permission of RW officials. He did not even know who distribute the coupon. "I have called on the people to not come to the event," he said.

Head of RT 10/11 West Pademangan, Bibit, also claimed to have called on the citizen. However, 10 people managed to go to Monas. "They get 3 packs of instant noodle, 1 litre rice, 1/4 kg cooking oil, 1/4 kg sugar and drink and bread," he said.
