214 female divers raise flag on seabed for Kartini Day

Every April 21 Indonesia commemorates Kartini Day.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SITUBONDO -- A total of 214 female divers raised the Red and White Flag on the seabed of Pasir Putih Beach, Situbondo District, East Java, to commemorate Kartini Day 2018. The beach was selected as the location for hoisting the Red and White Flag to commemorate Kartini Day 2018, as most female divers are in Surabaya.

The female divers, who raised the flag, were not entirely from Navy V Surabaya but also from the divers' community, such as Kowal, Police women, Possi Surabaya, Possi Malang, Possi Gresik, Poltek KP Sidoarjo, Yogyakarta Dive and Scout Community.

Assistant of Maritime Potential Development of the Head of Navy Staff Rear Admiral Edi Sucipto stated after the ceremony of Dive Kartini Event 214 of 2018 said that Indonesia, with a coastline measuring a total of 91 thousand kilometers, must be able to provide diving spots as a maritime country.

"Hence, this activity aims to develop diving tourism in Indonesia," he stated here on Saturday.

Situbondo Zefabi Adityasari, one of the participants from Saka Bhayangkara, Mangaran Police, expressed pride and happiness on being able to be part of the activities of Dive Kartini 2018.

"Thank God, no obstacles were encountered during the flag-raising event, as all divers had practiced a day before," she admitted.

In addition to the Dive Kartini 2018 activities for raising the Red and White Flag on the seabed, the divers also planted inscriptions on the seabed that read "Dive Kartini 214 Female Divers."
