REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Democratic Party general chairman, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) planned to meet with Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) chairman Sohibul Iman. The meeting was a part to explore communications with other political parties in 2019 presidential election.
The meeting is scheduled this week, but it was postponed firstly because SBY goes to Banten, said Democratic Party deputy chairman Syarief Hasan on Friday (April 20).
According to Syarief, the meeting between SBY and Sohibul would discuss about national politics issues. In addition, they also would talk about the chances of coalition between two parties in 2019 presidential election.
However, Syarief denied if the meeting was intended as a move from Democratic Party to get into Prabowo Subianto axis or invite PKS into a new axis. He said the meeting was part of Democratic Party's communication with others.
"We are also communicating with government party, so its something normal," Syarief added.
Furthermore, Syarief said Democratic Party's opportunity to coalition with many parties are still open until 2019 presidential election registration is officially closed. He admitted Democrat Party sought to approach the parties, whether those who already have the choice or attitude or not.
