REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opined that increased exports of automotives and their components will create more jobs in the country. Jokowi noted that Indonesia's automotive industry had grown at a fast pace, and it could target other markets in addition to that in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
"Exports of automotive components will open huge job opportunities, especially for small- and medium-scale industries, which produce both main and supporting components," Jokowi remarked at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2018 held at the JI Expo here on Thursday.

"These small- and medium-scale industries could enter the custom-made, or handmade market, or involving coloring and painting. I think this is quite promising," the president added.

The president expressed optimism that Indonesian businessmen would be able to keep pace with developments in the automotive industry and global demand.
"What we need (to do) is to open our eyes, to know, to keep up with, to watch closely, and to understand it fast, and we have to prepare this. We have to be active and we have to be ready," Jokowi noted.
