REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan said the party has not decided its support to Prabowo Subianto in the 2019 presidential election although he attended the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Gerindra Party in Hambalang, West Java on Wednesday (April 11).
"We have not take the decision whether PAN will support Prabowo or not," he said at the Parliament Complex on Wednesday (April 11).
He said the direction of coalition and support of PAN in the 2019 presidential election still can not be determined. He estimated the direction of party coalition will be clear in early May 2018 after conducting National Working Meeting (Rakernas).
Zulkifli said the party initiated a national coalition which he described as a rational coalitions, qualified, united, and re-established the nation. He acknowledged that he had met with other political parties leaders such as PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar and Gerindra Party.
"I came to Rakornas Gerindra because I was invited," Zulkifli, who is also Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly said.
Besides Zulkifli Hasan, Rakornas Gerindra were also attended by Chairman of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Sohibul Iman, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Deputy Governor of DKI Sandiaga Uno and senior politician of PAN Amien Rais.
Earlier, Gerindra Party confirmed that the party has given the mandate to its chief patron Prabowo Subianto to be president candidate in presidential election 2018 during Rakornas on Wednesday. However, Prabowo decided the declaration to wait for the completion of regional election in Banyumas, East Java.
"The declaration will be conducted after we receive letter of our friends National Mandate Party (PAN) and Prosperous Justice Part (PKS) and vice president candidate. It means most likely the declaration will be in Banyumas," said Gerindra Party Vice Chairman, Arief Poyuono to reporters in Padepokan Garudayaksa complex , Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (April 11).
