REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Veronica Tan officially finalized their divorce after 20 years of marriage. North Jakarta District Court has accepted divorce petition of the former Jakarta Governor against his wife .

During the trial, judges assembly revealed more detail reason behind Ahok and Veronica split. Veronica was said to have an affair since 2010 with another man. However, Ahok has proof of Veronica's infidelity in August 2015. At that time, he saw an incoming call to his wife's phone.

"When the plaintiff (Ahok) asked defendant (Veronica), she said the call is from nobody and also asked plaintiff to find out himself," said judge member Taufan Mandala at North Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (April 4).

In 2016, Ahok found Veronica was not at home when he returned early. Veronica left the house without asking her husband permission.

In addition, Veronica was known often communicate with the man who has JT initial for his name through Whatsapp application. Both of them was communicating with hokkien language.

Ahok filed divorce petition to the court on January 5 over allegation of infidelity on Veronicas part. He also sought to gain custody of his second and third children, Nathania Berniece Zhong and Daud Albeenner Purnama. His first child, Nicholas Sean Purnama will determine his own custody status due to his age.

North Jakarta Distric Court decided to grant the custody of Nathania and Daud to Ahok. In addition, Veronica as defendant must pay the trial fee for Rp 476 thousand.
