REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAMBI -- Ustaz Abdul Somad regularly visited many regions in Indonesia to preach and accumulate the energy of Muslims. People always greeted him for his preach. His movement was not for political purposes, preacher M Zainul Majdi or usually called Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB) remarked.
TGB believed ustaz Somad has no political obsession. Ustaz Somad only wished to share knowledge to other people and maintain the unity of Muslims.
TGB supported preacher Somad's dawah safari. "Ustaz Somads mission is purely to motivate the people move towards the goodness and the glory of Islam," said West Nusa Tenggara Governor after preaching at al Ihsaniah mosque, Kota Seberang, Jambi on Thursday (March 1).

TGB saw ustaz Somad as the glue for Muslims in Indonesia. Therefore, he asked the people to pray for preacher Somad's health. "Maintaining the unity of Muslims will benefit not only Muslims, but also Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Ustaz Somad had a Friday prayers sermon in Asy-Syuhada, Simpang Rimbo, Jambi on March 2. He shared the same stage with TGB to preach.
Ustaz Somad's name appeared unexpectedly in Media Survei Nasional (Median) survey. His name along with Habib Rizieq Shihab's name emerged in the survey result. "In fact, the two names was not listed as 33 candidates nominated by Median," Executive Director Median, Rico Marbun said in Jakarta on February 22.
Ustaz Somad's and Habib Rizieq's names were submitted by respondents. Rico said the two Islamic figures shared the same portion of chance to be elected, namely 0.3 percent.
