REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Defense asked Indonesian people to remain vigilant on the possibility of Islamic State (ISIS) infiltration. The terrorist group might be migrating from Philippines to Indonesia.

"We ask Indonesia citizens to be wary of the possible migration of ISIS members to Indonesia from the Philippines, as Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu has advised," said Ministry of Defence spokesperson, Czi Heru Prayitno on Thursday (Feb 15).

According to him, the armed group in Marawi, Philippines, which affiliated to ISIS was weakened due to the military operations. As they lost most of thier territory in the Philippines, ISIS members are predicted to search a new place in Southeast Asia with guerilla system.

"Possibily ISIS members will migrate to Indonesia," Heru added.

Moreover, many people in Southeast Asia are Muslims. ISIS members could take advantage of the condition and hide behind Islamic communities.

According to Heru, the issue of terrorism and its spreading was taken very seriously by Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu, who has agreed on "Our Eyes" synergy cooperation. Indonesia cooperated with five other Southeast Asia countries, which are Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore, agreed to exchange strategic information related to terrorist, radical and extremist groups.

Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines agreed to carry out the trilateral cooperation in security in the northern region of Indonesia, then three other countries, Singapore, Brunei and Thailland have joined and become 'Our Eyes'," Heru explained.
