Yusuf Mansur shows interest at Bank Muamalat shares

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Preacher Yusuf Mansur confirmed the news saying he is interested to buy Bank Muamalat Indonesia (BMI) shares. He is optimistic plan to buy shares of the first Islamic bank in Indonesia can be realized.

"Insya Allah (Gods will) I will buy BMI shares, hopefully it can be realized," said Yusuf on Tuesday (Feb 13).

Yusuf who also a founder of Daarul Quran Islamic Boarding School (pesantren) said the value of shares will be adjusted to the needs of BMI, which as much between Rp 4,5 trillion to Rp 5 trillion. The fund is planned to be mobilized from potential people though PayTren Asset Management.

"There is no consortium. We are still waiting for the scheme and the system that currently still be formulated," Yusuf explained.

Previously, the plan to increase the capital of BMI through a consortium of investors that raised by PT Minna Padi Investama Securities Tbk (PADI) failed because the conditional sale and purchase agreement between Minna Padi and Bank Muamalat expired on December 31, 2017. In addition, PADI talks with Financial Services Authority (OJK) also still not completed related to the purchase plan of BMI's shares.

Since the Conditional Share Subcription Agreement (CSSA) was over, PADI was no longer become standby buyer of preemptive rights for BMI rights issues. Even so, PADI coordinates with OJK and BMI.

In the disclosure information published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on September 27, 2017, PT Minna Padi Investama Securities Tbk. (PADI) has signed a stock purchase readiness.
