REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Trade Ministry said it has decided to approve imports of up to 171,660 tons of corn grains by five importers for domestic consumption. The trade Ministry has issued a new regulation on corn imports for food, animal feed and industrial basic material.
Corn import for animal feed is made only by the state owned Board of Logistic (Bulog) with approval from the government.

Imports of corn for human consumption could be made by Bulog and registered importer and imports of corn grain for industrial basic material could be made by registered importers for own use and could be sold to other companies.
In 2017, imports of corn grains totaled 301,487 tons or not up to 524,425 tons approved by the government.
