REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that he is on the lookout for a candidate for the post of governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), the country's central bank. The candidate should enjoy trust of the public and market, he noted at the University of Indonesia campus, Depok, West Java, Friday.
Agus Martowardojo, the current governor of BI, will enter his retirement period in May 2018. The president is expected to send a letter proposing the names of candidates for the BI governor's post to the House of Representatives at the end of this February.
After receiving the proposal, the Parliament will conduct a fit and proper test.
On January 15, 2018, President Jokowi had sent a letter proposing three names as candidates for BI's deputy governor.
BI Governor Martowardoko had, in fact, suggested the names of Dody Budi Waluyo, Doddy Zulverdi, and Wiwiek Sisto Widayat.
