REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- Some 15 US investors will visit West Nusa Tenggara province to look into the possibility of investment in the Mandalika special economic zone, a local tourism official said. "They want to explore investment potentials in West Nusa Tenggara, particularly in the Mandlika tourist resort," Chief of the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Tourism Office Lalu Moh Faozal said here on Wednesday.
Faozal said economic consul of the Indonesian consulate general in New York, Winanto Adi has informed him of the US investors' plan to visit the province from February 18 to 19. "During their stay in West Nusa Tenggara, the 15 investors will be accompanied by the Indonesian consul based in New York," he said.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the first special economic zone in the tourism sector on October 20, 2017.
The government expects the presence of the zone will create around 5 thousand jobs and attract 2 million foreign tourists.
Three investors are currently building five star hotels in the zone, namely Pullman Hotel, Royal Tulip Hotel and X2 Hotel.
