REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan has highlighted the energy development in Indonesia during the Roundtable Series meeting with the leaders of business media company Bloomberg in London, an official said here, Wednesday. Amid the talk, the minister stated that Indonesian government has simplified 104 types of permits into six, and cut 117 licenses of coal and mineral sectors to only five.
The ministry also set only 10 permits for the electricity and renewable energy sectors, Jonan said in his written statement received by Antara in Jakarta, Wednesday. "We are seeking to continue simplify the permits to ease the business in energy and mineral sectors," the minister remarked.
Jonan further explained that the construction of electricity infrastructures has progressed for the last two years, because recently the ministry has signed 70 contracts on Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The contract has strengthen the ministry's commitment to use the renewable energy source for generating more than 1.2 Giga Watt power. The agreement, he added, also has supported the government's target on fulfilling the electrification ratio by 95.4 percent in the end of 2017.
Apart of the contract, the ministry has imposed some strategic policies to reform the energy and mineral sectors in the country, including the implementation of gross-split scheme. The scheme has set a single price of fuel in every region of Indonesia.
Beside the single fuel price policy, the ministry has built city gas network, which will connect some 3,898 homes in Sorong City, Papua. The initial plan, Jonan added, this year, the similar network will also be constructed in two locations.
During the talk, the minister re-affirmed the government's commitment to build more power plants in Papua and West Papua. The ministry has targeted to set up more energy plants in the two most eastern provinces of Indonesia that would generate 514 GW power, and electrify 186,000 homes in 2019.
Following the meeting with Bloomberg, the minister will also meet and discuss the energy issues with several Indonesian ambassadors in Europe, namely the Ambassador to UK Rizal Sukma, the Ambassador to Netherlands I Gusti Wesaka Puja, the Ambassador to Belgium Yuri O. Thamrin, the Ambassador to United Nations in Geneva Hasan Kleib, as well as the Presidential Staff Office Deputy V Jaleswari Pramowardhani.
