'Unidentified parties organized pedicabs to enter Jakarta'

Sandiaga says the police will help to expel pedicabs from other province.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno said the pedicabs that came from outside the province are being organized to enter the capital city. He assessed the pedicabs come in a strange way and intentionaly.

He cited an example, the pedicab driver who came from Indramayu, West Java normally will go to Jakarta by own vehicle. However, the pedicabs that come to this city currently showed different trend. "The report said, the pedicabs were brought by truck," said Sandiaga on Monday (Jan 29).

Sandiaga explained the trucks that brought the pedicabs were fitted with covers. The other reports came to him said explicitly the pedicabs' arrival was organized. Neverthless, Sandiaga refused to speculate. He wanted to wait for further information from the police related to the situation.

He vowed not to remain silent if some parties proven to organized the pedicabs arrival to Jakarta. "The government will imposed firm sanction against people who are mobilising the pedicabs driver," he said.

Sandiaga said pedicabs and the drivers from outside Jakarta will be discharged. Previously, a container truck filled with pedicabs has been expelled by the Jakarta provincial Transportation Department from Bandengan, Tambora, West Jakarta. The truck was originated from outside the province.
