However, Iwel Sastra who made a bold declaration to become a comic in 1998 said stand-up comedy does not have to be satire. He assessed that satire is just one form of stand-up comedy.

"Satire only one of stand-up comedy forms and a comic must observe first about the topics or themes, so they had to fully understand the topics related to the satire," said Iwel.

He said, a comic must have self-cencorship and ethics when perform stand-up comedy. In addition, Iwel said stand-up comedy has the same goal as other comedy, which make the audience laugh.

"The difference is stand-up comedy has its own rules, so people can know if a comic performs," Iwel added.

Further more, Iwel explained that a comic must write his/her own matery. They can't steal other's matery or play that without permission.

"If there is permission, a comic is allowed to perform with matery which written by others, because there are also people who work as stand-up comedy material writer," Iwel said.
