Police process preacher Somad case by examining Ismar

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ismar Syafruddin who filed a police report on alleged provocation, hate speech in social media, blockage and/or persecution against preacher Abdul Somad admitted that he has been examined by the police. Ismar said, the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit on Thursday summoned him to hear his explaination on the report.

Ismar said, the report filed on December 12, 2017 mentioned I Gusti Agung Ngurah Harta, I Gusti Ngr Arya Wedakarna, Ketut Ismaya, Jemima Mulyandari, Gusyadi, Mocka Jadmika, Arif and several other parties including mass organizations allegedly involved in the incident experienced by preacher Somad.

He explained, he made the report as a form of his rejection to intolerance act. He wanted people involved in the case to be responsible.

"As we all know Bali is a world storefront from Indonesia so people will see it, including the case that happened there. Intolerant acts which committed by group of people should be prevented and they must realize our country is a law state," Ismar said on Friday (January 5).

Ismar's lawyer, Kamil Pasha from Advocacy Team of the Guard of NKRI (Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia) expected Abdul Somad case will be processed quickly, as the other persecution and intimidation cases. He said if the case process slowly, it will make impression there is discrimination for Muslim when they become victim.

It was as referred to Article 28 paragraph (2) juncto Article 45a paragraph (2) of ITE Law and Article 160 of Criminal Code (KUHP). Also Article 368 paragraph (1) of Criminal Code Article 335 paragraph (1) point (1) of Criminal Code and Article 333 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code or Article 59 paragraph (3) a, b, c and d juncto Article 82a Paragraph (1) and (2) Law No. 16/2017 on mass organization.

Previously, advocacy team coordinator of preacher Abdul Somad's Care Forum (TA-FPUAS) Zulfikar Ramly said all witnesses have been examined in the case of alleged intimidation against the charismatic preacher

He said, the police on Friday (December 29) have questioned the last suspect, namely chairman of the Nadlah committee who invited preacher Somad to Bali.

Therefore, Ramly expected, the police will soon complete the process of filing Arya Wedakarna's document as alleged suspect, investigate the case further and hand over the document to Attorney General Office.
