Speaking to the press after the meeting, Kalla stated that he discussed several issues related to education, innovation, and technology with Yandong.

"We held a general discussion on how to enhance (cooperation) in technological education. We also spoke about nuclear (technology)," he noted.

With regard to developing nuclear technology, Indonesia, which is situated on the Ring of Fire and frequently experiences earthquakes, still needs time to ensure that nuclear technology would be safe, he remarked.

"I told him that we still experience several earthquakes. Hence, it is not easy to develop nuclear technology in Indonesia. We need very advanced technology, which will prevent earthquakes," he revealed.

Kalla added that Chinese investment in Indonesia continues to increase. However, he called on Chinese investors to give priority to Indonesian workers.

"I told him that his country's investment was good. However, I urged Chinese investors to not bring too many workers to Indonesia. He agreed to train our workers in Indonesia and China," he stated.

While in Indonesia, Yandong will also attend a demographic conference in the Central Java city of Solo. He is accompanied by 45 scientists and 15 ministers.

During the meeting, Kalla was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Maharani and Foreign Minister Marsudi.
