Novel Bamukmin explains goals of 212 rally reunion

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Public relations of 212 rally reunion, Habib Novel Bamukmin explained there are several purposes of the event

He said, the participants of 212 rally reunion demand fairness in the implementation of the laws.

"We will gather to bind ourself in unity as we did a year ago for upholding the law," he revealed.

Last year's rally has lead to the victory of Muslims in Jakarta gubernatorial election, he said.

Therefore, he called on the people to be reunited to vote for Muslim candidate in the next simultaneous regional elections. "The figure should be a devout Muslim," he said to Republika.co.id, on Tuesday (November 28).

During 212 rally reunion, the committee will grant awards to13 figures that have been victims of criminalization.

He explained, those 13 figures are Habib M. Rizieq Shihab, cleric Alfian Tanjung, Muhammad al- Khaththath, Buni Yani, Sri Bintang Pamungkas, Rizal (People's Front Command/Kobar), Zamran (Kobar), Rahmawati Soekarno Putri, Kivlan Zein, Adityawarman, Ratna Sarumpaet, Ahmad Dhani and Eko Suncoyo.

According to Novel, the event will be held in National Monument (Monas) area on Saturday (December 2). The committee has gained permission from the Governor.

"Insya Allah (God's will), Jakarta governor and deputy, Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno, will also attend the 212 rally reunion," he said.

On December 12, 2016, advisor of GNPF MUI Habib M. Rizieq Shihab said action to Defend Islam III (212 rally) was organized to be more than just a rally. 

The National Movement to Guard the Indonesian Council of Ulama's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) was carrying the same aspiration as the previous series of rally, which was law enforcement against Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) in the case of blasphemy.
