President Jokowi leads the commemoration of National Heroes Day ceremony at Kalibata Heroes' cemetery, Friday (November 10).

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) led a ceremony to commemorate the National Heroes' Day at the Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery, here, Friday.

The ceremony of the Heroes' Day, that falls on Nov 10, began at 8 a.m. local time.

The President was accompanied First Lady Iriana, Vice President M Jusuf Kalla and spouse, Mufida Kalla.

Also present in the ceremony were Social Affairs Minister Kofifah Indar Parawansa, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, and Head of the Presidential Staff Office Teten Masduki, as well as a number of veterans.

President Jokowi laid a wreath at the heroes monument located in front of the heroes' cemetery.

On Thursday, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) led an award ceremony to confer the National Hero Titles of the Year 2017.

This year's recipients of the hero titles are the late TGKH Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid from West Nusa Tenggara NTB, the late Admiral Malahayati from Aceh, the late Sultan Mahmud Riayat Syah from Riau Islands, and Lafran Pane from Yogyakarta.
