REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- The Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Palembang has been 70 percent completed after almost finishing work to build the elevated track in the South Sumatra capital city.
Head of the project Mashudi Jauhari, said here on Thursday with work almost finished for the flyover track, Waskita Karya, the state construction company that build the project, is optimistic progress in the work completion would reach 80 percent by the end of this year in line with the target.
"There are only three points in the track needing more work. It is expected work in the three points would be finished by the end of this months," Mashudi said.
The LRT project is built to facilitate transport of athletes and the public during the next Asian Games . Palembang and Jakarta will co host the largest sport event of Asia next year.
Construction of the LRT project, to cost around Rp10.9 trillion began late 2015.
