REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla asked Premier Jatinegara hospital to explain Setya Novanto's (Setnov) disease during hospitalized.
He assessed, explanation from doctors was important to prove health status of House of Representative speaker.
"The most important thing is to have explanation from the doctors, therefore the public will believe," he stated at his office on Tuesday.
According to Kalla, circulation of Setnov's memes tagging the power of Setnov was a form of expression of public distrust to Setnov's condition. Moreover, he was hospitalized after being named suspect in e-ID card graft case then he filed a pre-trial suit against it and won the motion.
Kalla deplored Setnov's decision to file police report to dozens of social media account owners for defamation. He also said that the police decision to process the report as inappropriate.
"If all those memes have to be tried, the court will be tired because there are so many memes. It is just a sort of caricature, it's an expression," he said.
Until 04:00 pm, about 46.209 people have signed online petition at change.org to urge Setnov to revoke his report and ask the police to stop the case.
On November 1, National Police received reports from Frederic Yunadi as Setnov lawyer on 32 social media accounts that spread memes related to his client. Of the 32 accounts, nine accounts allegedly insulted Setnov.
The police have detained a netizen, Dyan Kemala Arrizzqi, for spreading meme of Setnov while he was hospitalized with sleep apnea mask.
According to the Head of Sub Directorate of Cyber National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Commissioner Asep Safrudin, Dyan has been named as suspect and snared Article 27 paragraph 3 of Law No. 11/2016 on the Law on ITE.
