REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the funding scheme for two infrastructure projects, namely Kertajati Airport and Jabodebek Light Rapid Transit (LRT), should become a model for others to follow in the country.

The funding scheme for the two projects did not burden the state budget, Budi stated, Tuesday.

The development of Kertajati Airport in Majalengka district of West Java was funded by the regional administration and investors, under the Limited Participation Mutual Funds (RDPT).

"This is a good business scheme; it shows that the central and the local governments can convene investors jointly. This scheme can become a model that we can use in other places," Budi noted.

The scheme is expected to encourage other local administrations to develop their infrastructure, without burdening the state budget.

"All the local governments can do this, because it is impossible for the central government to finish all the projects in various regions," he remarked.

Similarly, for the development of LRT Jabodebek, the government did not fully fund the project but helped to strengthen the company's equity through state capital injection (PMN). The remaining budget will be supported by a bank loan.

"These are good schemes, Kertajati and Jabodebek," he stressed.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that LRT Jabodebek project could become a model for other infrastructure projects in the country.

Luhut claimed that the mass transportation project had achieved efficiency, and the scheme could encourage more private sectors to invest in the project.
