REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING -- The Chinese government has invited Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution for a ministerial dialog on bilateral ties on August 21-22, 2017.
"At the invitation of the State Councillor, the Indonesian coordinating ministers will visit China," spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying noted in a written statement received by Antara in Beijing on Friday.
Chairman of the State Councillor of China Yang Jiechi invited the two ministers to discuss bilateral relations that are currently increasing.
"China has become the third-largest source of investment in Indonesia and the largest contributor of foreign tourists," Chunying remarked.
He also observed the progress in the high-speed railway project on the Jakarta-Bandung route, integrated industrial zones, and other major projects in Indonesia.
"In May, on the sidelines of the 'Belt and Road for International Cooperation' Forum, President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo had reached a new important consensus to strengthen strategic cooperation," he stated.
In the upcoming meetings, the two sides will extensively exchange insights on bilateral relations, political security, and economic cooperation.
"International and regional issues will also be a common concern at the meeting," the spokeswoman remarked.
Hua believes the meeting will further enhance political confidence between both nations, deepen practical cooperation, and foster the development of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership.
Meanwhile, Political Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing Suargana Pringganu confirmed the invitation from the State Councilor to the two ministers.
Wiranto is scheduled to arrive in Beijing on Sunday night, Aug 20, and will directly meet Jiechi on the next day.
