International flights from Bali up 1.67 percent

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Bali's International Airport of Ngurah Rai, saw 2,680 international flights of wide bodied aircraft off to various countries in June, 2017 or 1.67 percent more than 2,636 flights in May in the same year. 

The number of international passengers departing from the airport in June totaled 495,185 or an increase of 4.37 percent from the previous month, head of the provincial office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Adi Nugroho said here on Saturday.

Adi said international cargoes rose in volume 1.2 percent from 8.75 million tons to 8.86 million tons.

Most of the international passengers leaving Bali were touristafter spending their holidays in Bali, one of the world's major tourist islands. 

In June 2017 Bali recorded 504,141 visits by foreign tourists including 503,617 arrivals at the international airport and 524 arrivals at the Benoa seaport. 

The number of visits grew 24.22 percent from the same month last year and 3.02 percent larger than in May , 2017. 

Adi Nugroho said the largest number of the outgoing flights is to Australia reaching 633 flights with 107,365 passengers , followed by flights to China reaching 535 units with 101,561 passengers, Singapore 467 flights (81,067 passengers), Malaysia 463 flights (71,402 passengers) and Qatar 89 flights(25,450 passengers), Japan 88 flights (20,338 passengers, Thailand 80 flights (17,680 passengers), Timor Leste 70 flights (5,976 passengers), South Korea 65 flights (16,137 passengers), Taiwan 60 flights (16,980 passengers).

Adi Nugroho said domestic flights from Bali totaled 3,287 units in June 2017, down 5.52 percent from the previous month of 3,479 flights. The number of domestic passengers leaving Bali in June totaled 393,707 - down 11.05 percent from 442,595 passengers in May.

Domestic cargoes in June, 2017 totaled4.80 million tons, down 17.26 percent from 5.57 million tons in May, 2017, Adi Nugroho said.
