Kapuas Hulu to hold border tourism festival

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KAPUAS HULU -- The Tourism Office of Kapuas Hulu District, West Kalimantan Province, will hold the border tourism festival that will promote traditional arts, culinary, and musical show to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Indonesia.

"The committee will invite a famous singer from Jakarta and hold an art and culinary festival," the Head of Creative Economy and Tourism Promotion Sector of Kapuas Hulu Tourism Office, Indra Prasetyo said, here on Wednesday.

According to Indra, the committee is finalizing the preparation for the event that will be held from Aug 2017.

He added that the event was intended to attract foreign tourists from neighboring countries, including Malaysia.

"Besides celebrating the 72nd Indonesian Anniversary, the border tourism festival is also aimed at promoting tourism potential of Kapuas Hulu District by organizing attractive traditional arts and famous musical show," Indra added.

He noted that the committee will also invite officials from the Tourism Ministry and the Ministry of Village and Rural Area Development, as well as several provincial administrators.

The district administration remarked that the event will highlight the strategic national tourism potential of Kapuas Hulu.
