REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH -- An earthquake, measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale, jolted Aceh Province on Friday at 2:24 p.m. local time.
"The tremor was quite strong. Glass windows in my office vibrated," Niken (25), an employee in Banda Aceh, said here on Friday.
She said she was on the second floor when experiencing the tremor for several seconds.
The quake's epicenter was located at 4.71 degree northern latitude, 94.33 degree eastern longitude, 134 km southwest of Aceh Jaya District, and at a depth of 10 km below sea level.
According to the Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on its website, the earthquake did not have potential to trigger a tsunami.
