REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will organize an event named the "50th ASEAN Parade" to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The statement was made in a press release received by Antara in Bandung, Tuesday.
"In order to commemorate the golden anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Foreign Ministry will organize the 50th ASEAN Parade on Aug 27 in Jakarta," the press statement noted.
The 50th ASEAN Parade will showcase the various unique cultures of the ASEAN member countries, particularly Indonesia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has invited all members of the Indonesian community to participate in showcasing costumes, traditional dances and moves, music show, marching band, and other attractions and talents.
The parade is planned to cover a 3.4-kilometer route from the National Monument (Monas) to the infamous Hotel Indonesia roundabout and will end at Jakarta's General Sudirman statue.
The 50th ASEAN Parade will involve two to three thousand participants who will showcase numerous attractive and innovative exhibitions alongside the capital city's Car-Free Day.
As Indonesia's capital city, Jakarta houses the Association's secretariat, due to which the city has often been called as the ASEAN's diplomatic centre.
Since its establishment in 1967, the ASEAN has proven successful in maintaining security, boosting economic growth, and becoming an appealing investment destination in the region.
Moreover, it has also demonstrated that cultural identity and religious diversity can coexist in one harmonious community.
The 50th ASEAN Parade will highlight the cultural wealth that is treasured by each ASEAN member country while simultaneously reawakening the community's awareness to becoming an active member of the ASEAN.
Various unique culinary delicacies from each member country will also be on offer along with information on cooperation opportunities between the Indonesian community and the other ASEAN member countries.
