REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PURWOKERTO -- The Indonesian government will distribute 500 thousand land certificates to the communities in Central Java Province by 2017, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Affairs Sofyan Djalil stated.

"This year, Central Java will receive 500 thousand land certificates," Djalil said at the Purwokerto Square on Friday.

In fact, he said the number of certificates to be distributed could increase, as there were other programs to help people receive land certificates.

"For instance, through the Corporate Social Responsibility program or other forms of assistance, the figure can reach at least 600 thousand certificates in Central Java," he noted.

Djalil attended events of Land Certificate Submission, National Strategic Program, Guidance and Facilitation and Reform Access Cooperation at the Purwokerto Square, Banyumas District.

During the events, the government distributed 2,187 land certificates to the residents of several areas in Central Java Province.

President Joko Widodo was present at the Purwokerto Square to meet and hand over land certificates to the public.

The people enthusiastically welcomed the president.

On the occasion, Widodo stressed that the government had continued to accelerate the management of all land certificates, so that more people will have them.

"There are so many cases of land disputes in the regions. We are accelerating the issuance process to avoid disputes," he said.

The president also advised the public to keep the certificates safe and secure.

"Please take copies of the certificate, so that if it is lost, you could manage to get another one again easily," he said.
