REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Commissioner of National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) Natalius Pigai visited Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs office on Friday. He tried to mediate presidium of 212 rally alumni with the government related to the alleged criminalization to the ulema.

Pigai said Komnas HAM has been observing and investigating the allegation. During the process, he found that advocacy team of the Muslims community is willing to reconcile and promote peace.

"They wanted a national comprehensive reconciliation," Pigai remarked on Friday.

According to Pigai, presidium of 212 alumni rally asked Komnas HAM to mediate them with the government. In the meeting intended for reconciliation, Pigai asked the government to resolve the problem that dragged ulemas and stop the uproar.

He urged Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to convey the message to the president. Pigai said the Commission respect the ongoing legal process, but he believed the uproar can be stopped by the President.

"The legal process can be terminated if the President makes a decision, non-judicial decision is in the hands of the President," he said.

The Commission has not issued any recommendation regarding the report. Pigai said he preferred trying to mediate first to achieve reconciliation with the government.

"We could not reveal the material aspects right now, we preferred to mediate first for peace and reconciliation," he remarked.

Presidium of 212 rally alumni planned to have a massive congregational prayer on Friday as a rally to defend ulema. Chairman of the 212 Presidium Ansufri Idrus Sambo remarked that the rally, to start from the Istiqlal Grand Mosque, will go on and said he has informed the police of the plan.
