Three Indonesian nationals escape safely from Manchester bombing

Police secured Manchester Arena after the bombing in Ariana Grande concert at Manchester, England, Tuesday (May 23).

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR – Three Indonesian nationals were safe from a bombing at Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester, England on Monday (May 22). The concert-goers were still in the location when the incident happened. 

“There was information from the Deputy Chairman Indonesian Student Association (PPI) Manchester that there were three Indonesian nationals at the concert. One is master student and the other is undergraduate students. But they were able to go home safely,” said the Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in the Presidential Palace, Bogor on Tuesday (May 23). 

According to Retno, based on the latest information from Indonesian Embassy to London, 22 people became the victim of the bombing, including children. Meanwhile, 59 people injured during the incident.

Manchester Police said there was only one assailant. He died in the location. 

Retno conveyed her condolence to the victims and their families. “Indonesia condemned the recent bombing,” said her. 

Indonesian Embassy to London assigned a diplomat as consular to Manchester to gain information about the victim. Indonesian government also looked for information by calling the local hospitals around Manchester.
