House of Representatives to decide inquiry rights within 60 days

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Taufik Kurniawan said the House have 60 days to decide whether the inquiry rights will be followed up by forming a special team. It will be fail to be discussed when the deadline was over.  

"After 60 days, the inquiry rights for Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) cannot be discussed in the Plenary Session. It means it was failed," said Taufik in Jakarta on Tuesday (May 3).  

Taufik explained that it would also be dismissed when the representatives fractions could not submitted the name of complete members in the special team, as it was impossible to make decissions without complete fractions.  

Taufik said the inquiry rights might be submitted by only 25 members from more than a fraction. But, the decision in the parliamentary assembly fitting, special team and parliament organs level could not be made by the minorities.  

The PAN politician argued dynamics arose when fractions took back their support and the other complained about the decision making process during last week plenary session. 

He said, at the end, the decision showed party's recommendation as the members were the representatives of the party.  "All the members of representatives were parts of political parties, so the official decision depends on the party," he said.

DPR's plenary session decided to use inquiry right related to KPK's duty mentioned in Law No. 30 year 2002 on KPK. 

Several members of representatives stated their approval to the inquiry right and then the Deputy Chairman of DPR Fahri Hamzah tapped the gavel. Lately, some members of Representatives from Gerindra came in front of the room said that it was too quick to make the decision. But, Fahri ignored it. 

There were 19 members of Commission II signed the inquiry rights, namely:

9. Dossy Iskandar (Hanura)

10. Syaiful Bahri Ruray (Golkar)

11. Endang Srikarti Handayani (Golkar)

12. Agun Gunandjar Sudarsa (Golkar)

13. Anthon Sihombing (Golkar)

14. Fahri Hamzah ( PKS).

15. Noor Ahmad (Golkar)

16. Ridwan Bae (PartaiGolkar).

17. M.N Purnama Sidi (Golkar)

18. Masinton Pasaribu (PDI Perjuangan)
