REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The defendant of blasphemy case, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok read his pleidoi or defense during the trial on Tuesday (April 25) in the Auditorim of Agricultural Ministry, South Jakarta. In the pleidoi, he likened himself as Nemo, a small clown fish figure in Finding Nemo movie who swim against the current.

"Although there are many acussation and slanders to me, I will keep on giving service and act with compassion," said him to the panels of judges on Tuesday (April 24).

Ahok told his story in parable when he talked about kindergarten students' visit. A student asked the reason he always fight with people and against the mainstream.

"I was confused in giving the answer and then I asked him to watch Finding Nemo. As what is implied, sometimes we swim through the wrong direction. When we forced ourself to go up, we will die. Nemo knows it well," he said.

Ahok said that everybody should be consistent and honest. He said to did not care of people's respond as he believed that God would count.

"People asked who are we? I am a small Nemo fish in the middle of Jakarta. The applause of the students strengthen me to keep on struggling. God knows my heart. Although may slanders come as the result of different faith, I will keep serving," he said.
