Garuda Indonesia flight delayed due to bomb joke

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- Garuda Indonesia Airways airline flight number GA611 from Makassar, South Sulawesi to Jakarta has been delayed due to a bomb joke.

"As a result of the bomb joke, one airline at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar, delayed for departure," Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport spokesman Turah Ajiari in Makassar said on Friday.

This flight was scheduled to load 209 passengers (184 economy passengers, 25 people in business class) and boarding at around 12.20 pm local time. Passenger who joke about bomb along with his five friends declared canceled by the airline. The airline believed they disturb the safety and comfort of other passengers.

As a result of a joke, as many as 19 passengers decided to cancel the flight. A total of 184 passengers departed to Jakarta (173 economy passengers and 11 people of business class). During the delay, the airline gave meal vouchers to passengers.

Passenger who conveyed bomb joke should give testimony and statements to airport police. According to Turah, joke bombs have been repeatedly happen at the airport, although the airport has warn not to joke about bombs.
