REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Deputy Chairman of the Fraction of Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS) in the Jakarta House of Representatives (DPRD DKI Jakarta) Abdurrahman Suhaimi said some fractions had not made their decision on when the boycot of the discussion with Jakarta government would be end. He said the fraction waited for the solution on the problem of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama's status as Jakarta governor. “We will wait until it is clear so that the discussion will not had legal fallacy," said Abdurrahman to Republika.co.id on Monday.
As information, four fractions named PKS, Gerindra, PPP, and PKB boycott the discussion with the Jakarta government. It was done as a protest on Ahok's status which remained to be activated as a governor. In fact, he was a defendant in a blasphemy case.
Abdurrahman explained that the Law No. 23 in 2014 stated that a governor who became a defendant should be deactivated and the Interior Ministry did not followed the rule. It was the main reason of the boycott. But, the ministry had different opinion due to the case.
He also said that the leader board of the fraction has been conducting some steps to discuss Ahok's status. “What I heard was that the leader board would send a letter to the ministry due to Ahok's status,” said Abdurrahman.
