REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Rude ways on commenting KH Ma'ruf testimony during the eighth session of the blasphemy case, conducted by the defendant Basuki Tjahaja Purnama 'Ahok', has raised comments from some Islamic organizations.

The Secretary of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Youth, Pedri Kasman, said the way Ahok spoke to response Kiai Ma'ruf testimony was clearly a serious threat to the national unity and values. He argued that it threaten all Muslim in Indonesia. “KH Ma’ruf is the chairman on the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) which is an official agency to represent all the Islamic organizations and elements,” said him on Saturday (Feb 4).

As a chairman, Kiai Ma’ruf is an imam and the top leader of all Indonesian Muslims. Pedri said Ahok and the legal advisors had conducted unethical action and action without manners. It was enrages all Indonesian Muslim.

"This has increased the uproar of our nation. The existing uproar had not subsided yet. And it began with a flippant remark of Ahok. The unity of this nation has been threatened by his acts," he said.

The spokesman of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI), Ismail Yusanto, said it was normal for Muslims, especially the member of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), to be angry with Ahok for his rude action towards Kiai Ma’ruf. "Ahok with his own brash hits a very sensitive side of the member of NU, namely its rais aam, KH Ma’ruf Amin,” said Ismail when contacted by Republika.co.id on Saturday (Feb 4).

Therefore, he asked Ahok to immediately and directly apologize and to admit his mistake. However, it was not enough to resolve the problem with the previous apology conveyed through video recording. Moreover, many parties get the impression that Ahok did not ask for an apologize wholeheartedly.

“And in that apology, Ahok said ‘If (you) feel offended’. It was clear he felt offended. This person was indeed troublesome. When a person made mistake, he did not need to say ‘If (you) feel offended’, said ‘I feel sorry, I apologized’,” said him.

However, said Ismail, instead of his apology, the allegation to Ma’ruf for issuing a fatwa on blasphemy by the request of SBY, should be processed. He said apology was a must, while legally the allegation should be processed.
