REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MK) is set to question six more witnesses in the alleged bribery case involving its judge, Patrialis Akbar. "Six witnesses will be questioned to give their testimonies," MK spokesman Fajar Laksono said here on Thursday.
The six witnesses include a judicial secretary, a driver, an adjutant, a security officer and two substitute clerks, he added. At its meeting on Wednesday (Feb 1), the honorary council decided to appoint Deputy Chief of the Judicial Commission Sukma Violetta as the council's chief, with constitutional court justice Anwar Usman as its secretary.
In addition, the council also questioned a number of witnesses to give their testimonies. In the first hearing, the council questioned constitutional justice Manahan Sitompul, constitutional justice I Dewa Gede Palguna, clerk Kasianur Sidauruk and Patrialis' secretary Prana Patrayoga Adiputra.
On Jan 25, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Patrialis on charges of receiving a bribe from beef importer Basuki Hariman, who has a legal case pending with the constitutional court. Basuki reportedly bribed Patrialis to accept the request for a judicial review of the law on husbandry and animal health.

KPK later named Patrialis as a suspect in the case for allegedly receiving a bribe of US$20 thousand and S$200 thousand. Patrialis denied on Jan 27 that he had received money from Basuki in connection with a judicial review of the law. "I have never received a single cent from Basuki. Moreover, he has no legal case pending with MK. It has nothing to do with the case," Patrialis stated after being questioned at the KPK building here on Jan 27.
