REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Attorney General Muhammad Prasetyo revealed some reasons why Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), who was charged on blasphemy case, was not arrested. There were some considerations taken by the police, so they did not arrest him. 

Prasetyo said one consideration is because there is a greater importance, namely Jakarta gubernatorial election. The Attorney General Office seen it from the subjective and objective considerations "He did not necessarily to be arrested because he is cooperative and there was a bigger interest, namely gubernatorial election,” he said during a meeting in Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Tuesday (12/6).

However, he stated, the one who entitled to answer the question was the police. Furthermore, the handling of the candidate’s case should be postponed until the election is completed. 

Ahok is now being the participants of the gubernatorial election in 2017 along with Djarot Saiful Hidayat as his deputy candidate. North Jakarta District Court has set a schedule for the inaugural session of the reading of indictments of the case. The session would be held on Tuesday (12/13).
