REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Nahdlatul Ulama Chairman Said Aqil Siradj regretted Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reaction about November 4th rally. Jokowi suspected the rally was ridden by a political actor. "It is not correct to stigmatize that acts of November 4 ridden by particular groups," he said at the NU headquarters, Jl Kramat Raya, Monday (11/7).

According to Said, it will be wiser for all parties to take lessons from the acts. If there was a suspicion, Jokowi should immediately take action against these who he believed was intended to undermine the sacred intent of the peace movement. Said give his statement after receiving President Jokowi at NU headquarters. "We also have told the President in a closed meeting earlier today," he said.

Meanwhile, Said also said the government was so slow in responding the demand of the people in November 4th rally. The mass wanted to have a dialogue with the President. "We regretted government inaction in political communication with the people."

Therefore, NU urged the government to immediately conduct intensive dialogue with religious leaders in order to create a more conducive atmosphere.
