Gojek drivers urge management to revoke point reduction system

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Hundreds drivers of motorcycle-taxi application Gojek have held demonstrations in front of the Gojek office in Kemang, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (28/9). They claimed the Gojek's policy that not profitable for the drivers and urged the management to revoke their policy.

"The Gojek Company determined that if the driver pick up the passengers, the driver deserve to obtain award called five star. However, if the passenger cancel the order, the driver will receive a reduction of points (performance)," said one of Gojek driver, Ahmad Yasin.

He said that actually the regulation can be beneficial on one side. With the point reduction system, the drivers become more responsible. They have to succeeded in picking up the passengers.

On the contrary, if the order can not be completed then the driver's credit points will be reduced. Point reduction otomatically will reduce the driver's salary. "We want the management to revoke it," Yasin said.

Meanwhile Gojek management, Adelia, said the company would evaluate the system. She promised to discussed it with drivers.

"There is a possibility Gojek will accept request from drivers about points reduction due to cancellation of orders," Adelia said.

Adelia explained that point reduction was meant as a warning for the driver. If there is a cancellation of the order, then driver's value will be reduced. If cancellation occurs repeatedly then the driver will get the first warning, warning letter, then being dismissed.
