Garut flood death toll rises to at least 20

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GARUT -- The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BNBD) Garut announced death toll of flash flood and landslide in Garut, West Java has arose to 20. Beside that, until Wednesday (9/21) afternoon, 14 others are reported still missing.

According to Spokesman of BNBD Sutopo Purwo, from that data, nine victims confirmed as children and four other are still missing.

National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the military, police, Red Cross, and volunteer still searching for the missing people.

Meanwhile, the authorities has been trying to identify names of the dead victims. Doctor from Garut Police, Endah Krisnawati said that since morning there were 15 dead bodies brought to the Guntur hospital. "And now five more bodies are on the way to Guntur hospital," dr Endah said to Republika.co.id, Wednesday (21/9).

Here are the names of victims who have been identified in Guntur Hospital. They were H Nawawi (65 years), Iis (35), Irsyad (8), Ahmad (3), Rachel (4 months), Deni (23), Siti (28), Santi (38), Revina (7), Nunung (75), Sarin (10), Jana (35), Aceng Taryana (50), Welis (25) and Suyati (58).
